การแนะนำตนเองของชาวตะวันตกนั้นถือว่าเป็นวัฒนธรรมและเป็นธรรมเนียมปฏิบัติ ตามมมรรยาทเราควรแนะนำตัวเองก่อน

ที่งานปาร์ตี้แบบสบายๆ แห่งหนึ่ง

“ I’m Maria.” หรือ
“Hello. My name’s Maria.”
คำตอบอาจเป็น
“Hello Maria, I’m Sarrah.”หรือ
“Nice to meet you. I’m Sarrah.”
ในที่ทำงาน สถานการณ์คล้ายๆ กัน
“I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Maria from….” หรือ
“Let me introduce myself. I Maria from…”
ผู้พูดอีกฝ่ายอาจตอบว่า
“Nice to meet you. I’m Peter Mitchell from Mitchell Creations”
“Please to meet you. I’m Peter Mitchell from Mitchell Creations”
“Hoe do you do. I’m Peter Mitchell from Mitchell Creations”
